Word One – BET Cypher

word one

Traveling the country, doing everything from drug-dealing to owning his own business, recording artist “Word One” (aka Grey Poltergeist) is ready to tell the world his story of being an UNDERDOG. Born in Los Angeles, California; although, raised mostly in New York and Jacksonville, Florida, Word One would tell you that he’s the “man from nowhere”, because of all of his travels in between and all of the different cities that he’s lived in. Throughout the years, Word One has managed to build a reputation, as well as a fan base across the country-without putting out an album under any major record label. He is a hip-hop recording artist that sees himself as the “everyman” ,“anti-thug”, or “underdog” and that is why his audience will be humungous once the whole world gets a chance to hear him.

WhoMadeWho – Inside World

whomadewho

WhoMadeWho (or Who Made Who) formed in 2003, with falsetto voiced bassist Tomas Hoffding coming from the Scandinavian rock underground, singer songwriter/guitarist Jeppe Kjellberg from the avantgarde jazz scene, and drummer Tomas Barford – who also records as Tomboy. The band released several 12-inches on German disco label Gomma Records including ‘Out The Door’ and ‘Space To Rent’, culminating in their self-titled debut album in 2005. In 2009 they released their second album “The Plot”.

The Magician Tape Nineteen

Magic Tape Nineteen by TheMagician

The Magician drops Magic Tape Nineteen on this very fine morning. This mixtape features a clash of Dream Pop, Alternative Disco, and Electronic tracks featuring Goldroom, Friendly Fires, Lancelot, Tiger Stripes, and Tensnake. The Magician seems to be getting better with each mixtape he drops. It must be all that magic school. Enjoy.

Clams Casino x Lana Del Rey – Born to Die

Lana Del Rey – Born To Die [Clams Casino Remix] by PurplePR

After a disappointing performance on SNL, Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die track gets remixed by Clams Casino. Best known for the emotive, hypnotic, hard-hitting beats he’s whipped up for Soulja Boy (“All I Need”) and Berkeley oddball Lil B (“Motivation”), 24-year-old Clams Casino got his break when he contacted B on MySpace and sent him some instrumentals. In March, in the face of mounting requests for MC-free versions of his tracks, he released Instrumental Mixtape, where the richly textured, poignant sound stood entirely on its own. This summer, Clams – whose real name is Mike Volpe – will release the lovely Rainforest EP and play his first-ever live show, opening for the anarchic noise act Black Dice at New York’s P.S. 1 Museum.
